Natural Disaster Insurance
Natural Disaster Insurance Hearing: Gene Taylor’s Opening
What is the point of having homeowners/renters insurance and an emergency fund if we have FEMA?
Before anyone gets in an uproar, I live in Florida on the coast in the top hurricane zone. I have emergency money and renters insurance, just in case. I have a hurricane kit, just in case. I have a plan, just in case. I don’t wait around, experience a natural disaster, and then hold my hand out waiting for the Fed to give me FEMA money. Why live in a hurricane zone if one can not prepare oneself? Since when is it the Fed’s responsibility to pick up where we as “responsible” adults leave off???
These same people looking for FEMA handouts are the same ones who gripe about having to pay high taxes… I don’t get it!
I am being sarcastic when I say “why? we have FEMA” I’m tired of people relying on the gov.
FEMA was more of a blanket statement for federal aid. Excuse my goof.
BTW, I’m a liberal. If libs are getting sick of it, then you know it’s gone too far.
FEMA is for federal disasters, personal homeowners insurance is not. On a side note, I hear you…My wife and I have had over 10K in damages twice due to hurricanes and never once hounded FEMA for any reimbursement.
